If you have acne-prone skin and/or are struggling with blackheads or whiteheads, you may be a candidate for extractions. Extractions can remove any blackheads, whiteheads, or other deep-rooted acne to clear your skin.
Did you know…
Our extraction sessions can be combined with our HydraFacial treatments! It will enhance your HydraFacial experience by clearing the pores to absorb more product.
What are Extractions and how are they performed?
Extractions are non-invasive treatments to remove blackheads and/or whiteheads using metal instruments. Depending on the size, depth and type of acne, the method of extraction will vary. For blackheads and whiteheads that are smaller and on the surface of the skin, a comedone extractor is used to apply pressure around the acne and push out the build up. For deeper rooted acne, either a needle or a thin blade is used to make a small opening on the surface of the acne. Then the esthetician will push out the acne build up using her sanitized hands or cotton tips.
What are its benefits?
This treatment is a form of cleansing the skin and removing any built up dirt and oil inside your pores. Cleaning the skin regularly not only helps with reducing or preventing acne, but improving product absorption. Hence, this treatment shows the best effects when used in combination with dermatologist-approved skincare products and/or HydraFacials.
What are its side effects?
Most patients experience redness and slight inflammation from the pressure when cleaning out the pores. There may also be very light bleeding from the needle or thin blade. These symptoms should go away after a few days, but if your symptoms persist longer, contact your provider as soon as possible.
