Sweat-soaked clothing, damp hands, or body odor that persists despite daily care can interfere with work, relationships, and confidence. We treat hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) and bromhidrosis (persistent body odor), with care tailored to your symptoms and daily routine.

Excessive Sweating & Body Odor

Hyperhidrosis causes sweating beyond what your body needs to stay cool. It may affect the underarms, hands, feet, face, or scalp—even without heat or exercise. Body odor develops when skin bacteria break down sweat and other material on the skin. The two concerns may occur together, but persistent odor does not necessarily mean excessive sweating or poor hygiene.

We review your symptoms, medications, and previous treatments, then examine the affected skin. This helps identify contributing factors such as irritation, erythrasma, or pitted keratolysis, a bacterial condition that can cause foot odor. New or widespread sweating, night sweats, or a sudden change in odor may need additional evaluation.

Treatment Options

The goal is better control of sweating and odor with a plan you can comfortably maintain. Options include:

  • Prescription antiperspirants: Aluminum chloride products help reduce sweating and are usually applied to completely dry skin to limit irritation.
  • Prescription underarm treatments: Qbrexza (glycopyrronium) cloths and Sofdra (sofpironium) gel may be appropriate for eligible patients with excessive underarm sweating.
  • Botox injections: Temporarily reduce sweating in treated areas and may be considered when topical treatment is not enough.
  • Oral medications: Glycopyrrolate or oxybutynin may be used off-label for selected patients. Potential side effects include dry mouth, constipation, blurred vision, urinary difficulty, and overheating.
  • Odor-focused care: Antibacterial washes or prescription treatment for a diagnosed infection, along with skin-fold care, breathable clothing, and underarm hair management when helpful.

We explain how to use each treatment, expected results, and possible side effects. Deodorants help control odor; antiperspirants reduce sweating. Learn more about daily sweat management and persistent body odor.
