Sculptra (Collagen Biostimulation)

Sculptra collagen biostimulation for gradual facial volume and support, planned around anatomy, proportions and natural-looking goals.

← Cosmetics and Aesthetics

Some people notice gradual loss of support and volume but do not want the look of a traditional filler treatment.

Sculptra works by stimulating your own collagen over time, so the change is gradual and depends on where volume has been lost.

We use it selectively, with attention to facial proportions, anatomy, and how much change you actually want.

Recovery & Results

Daily activities: Often the same day.
Visible recovery: Swelling, tenderness and bruising can remain after activities resume.
Results: May begin around one month; improvement builds over a planned series.

How collagen biostimulation differs from other injectables

Hyaluronic-acid fillers and collagen-stimulating products work differently. Sculptra’s effect develops over time, so immediate post-treatment fullness or swelling should not be mistaken for the final result. A planned series and reassessment may be more appropriate than judging the outcome on the day of injection.

Facial fillers may be considered for other contour or volume goals, while wrinkle-relaxing injections address selected lines caused by muscle movement. These are different treatment categories, not interchangeable versions of the same procedure.

What can Sculptra address?

It may be considered for appropriate facial wrinkles, folds and related age-associated changes after examination. The choice depends on the treatment area, skin quality, prior procedures and medical history. Sculptra is not a lip-plumping treatment and should not be treated as a universal substitute for every filler. It also cannot reproduce a surgical facelift or correct every cause of a tired-looking face.

Who should not receive treatment?

The manufacturer’s safety information excludes people with a history of keloid formation or hypertrophic scarring and people with relevant product allergies. Treatment should not be performed through an active skin infection or inflammation. Safety has not been established during pregnancy or breastfeeding or in patients under 18. Your clinician will review the complete product information and your history before recommending treatment.

What to discuss at your appointment

Bring information about prior injectables, including the product and approximate date if known. Mention facial surgery, previous reactions, autoimmune or other medical conditions, medications and supplements. Ask which areas are appropriate, the proposed number of visits, what improvement is realistic and how the full treatment plan will be priced. Do not stop prescribed medication without speaking to its prescriber.

Before treatment, we review consent, the intended approach and aftercare. Follow the instructions provided for your treatment rather than a general social-media massage or recovery routine.

Recovery and important risks

Bruising, swelling, tenderness, redness and temporary unevenness can occur after injection. Delayed lumps or nodules and infection are possible. As with other facial injectables, unintended injection into a blood vessel can cause serious injury, including tissue damage and, rarely, vision loss or stroke. This is a medical procedure requiring knowledge of facial anatomy and complication management.

Seek urgent medical attention for visual changes, severe or unusual pain, or pale, dusky or mottled skin after a facial injection, and notify the treating practice immediately.

Plan your visit

Sculptra is a gradual treatment, so planning matters more than chasing an immediate change. The consultation should define the areas being treated, expected time course, number of sessions, and how results will be reassessed.
