Same-day or next-day appointments may be available for selected urgent concerns at our Garden City, Syosset and Bellerose offices.<\/p>\n<h2>Common reasons for an urgent appointment<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Rapidly worsening or painful <a href=\"\/medical-dermatology\/rashes\/\">rashes<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Suspected skin infections<\/li>\n<li>Painful or inflamed <a href=\"\/surgical-dermatology\/cysts\/\">cysts<\/a> and <a href=\"\/medical-dermatology\/abscess-boils\/\">abscesses or boils<\/a><\/li>\n<li>A painful, blistering rash that may be <a href=\"\/medical-dermatology\/shingles-herpes-zoster\/\">shingles<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Severe <a href=\"\/medical-dermatology\/contact-dermatitis-poison-ivy\/\">poison ivy or contact dermatitis<\/a> reactions<\/li>\n<li>Sudden, widespread <a href=\"\/medical-dermatology\/hives-urticaria\/\">hives<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Severe acne flares<\/li>\n<li>New blistering or significant inflammation<\/li>\n<li>Selected allergic or medication-related skin reactions<\/li>\n<li>A new skin problem that is worsening quickly and cannot reasonably wait for a routine visit<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Urgent dermatology vs. the emergency department<\/h2>\n<p>Borealis Dermatology is not a 24-hour emergency department. Call 911 or seek emergency care for trouble breathing or swallowing, swelling of the tongue or throat, fainting, widespread blistering with significant illness, a rapidly progressive severe infection, severe eye involvement or another potentially life-threatening reaction.<\/p>\n<h2>Can I walk in?<\/h2>\n<p>Please request an appointment rather than relying on walk-in availability.
