A flare after eating does not automatically prove that a food is the cause.

Should I eliminate dairy, gluten, eggs or nuts?

Not routinely. Avoiding major food groups without a documented allergy or a reproducible reaction can lead to unnecessary restriction and nutritional deficiencies. Food-allergy testing is most useful when the history suggests an immediate reaction or when a specialist is evaluating selected patients with difficult-to-control eczema.

Are there foods that make eczema go away?

No specific food has been shown to cure eczema. A balanced diet supports overall health, but moisturizer, trigger reduction and appropriate anti-inflammatory treatment remain the core of eczema management.

What if I notice the same food triggers a flare every time?

Write down the food, timing and symptoms and discuss the pattern with your clinician rather than starting a broad elimination diet. Immediate hives, swelling, vomiting, wheezing or other allergic symptoms require a different evaluation from a delayed eczema flare.

What should I focus on instead?

Consistent fragrance-free moisturizer and skin-barrier care

Gentle bathing and cleanser habits

Identifying personal irritant and environmental triggers

Using prescription treatment when inflammation is not controlled

Considering phototherapy, biologic or other systemic treatment when moderate-to-severe eczema requires it

See our eczema treatment page, eczema flare-prevention guide, and modern eczema treatment options.

Book Appointment.

There is no universal eczema diet.
